“I draw the gap between fantasy and reality in space as a child's graffiti. Life, which I imagined to turn out like that of Snow White, instead resembles that of a dwarf forced to live in a barren land, and the dream of becoming a wonderful artist like Frida Kahlo morphed into the endurance of the daily vagaries of life.
I put this existential sorrow into clay and bake it in a kiln to create a ceramic sculpture. I chose ceramics because of its inherent dual nature. It exhibits the beautiful, warm texture of baked colors. And yet, behind its sturdy look, it is empty inside and breaks easily, reflecting the gap between illusion and frustration.”

“My primary means of expression is through sculpting heads, similarly to when I was playing with dolls as a child. I sculpt myself in different roles and states of mind. As if they were dolls, I give my sculptures rough edges and clumsy looks.
I use a disharmonious blend of colors like a child's graffiti creating a mise-en-scène of her fantasy that never became. This realizes the dreams that cannot be achieved in the real world visually in my own world, and it sublimates the sadness that we experience through the gap more beautifully.”

“Engaging with clay is a deeply sensory and somatic experience for me, driven by an inherent curiosity. The physicality and involvement of all the senses play a crucial role in comprehending the material, understanding its nuances, and observing its behaviors. As the material transforms into a crafted object, the intangible elements of time, care, and skill contribute a unique and challenging-to-articulate essence. Infusing my energy into these objects through handcrafting, storing it, and allowing viewers to later experience that energy is a captivating aspect that captivates my interest.”
“I've always been interested in the impulses that happen in me and the way l express them. These works seek to explore the complex relationship between place and identity through layered compositions intended to evoke feelings of nature while not specifically representing a scene.”

Growing up amid the lush rainforests and pristine beaches of tropical Malaysia, Follen was profoundly inspired by the natural beauty surrounding her. Her art, characterized by a raw yet vibrant and sunny aesthetic, reflects her deep love for nature and geology.
This passion fueled her relentless experimentation with natural ingredients, various types of clay, and pigments, resulting in unique marbling patterns that capture nature's magic. Her work isn't just about visuals; it's about the tactile experience. Follen aims to immerse her audience in the sensory "contrast" of mother nature through her creations, inviting them to feel and connect with the natural world in a deeply personal way.

Eve is a Bangkok based ceramics artist. Graduated Bachelor of Interior Architecture, Faculty of Architecture, Chulalongkorn University.
Her experience has helped her to understand ceramics and herself. The repetitive process helps her to calm and helps her indulge in the present while she can find happiness in a simpler way. Eve spent time trying the different ways to work with porcelain to understand it more.
